Probiotics
Probiotics are broadly known as the "friendly" or "good" bacteria which help to maintain a healthy intestinal tract. These friendly bacteria also help to fight illness and disease. Your body should at least contain 85% of friendly bacteria compared to 15% unfriendly bacteria to maintain good health. Unfortunately most people have this ratio the other way around. Probiotics are: "Live microorganisms which when administered in adequate amounts confer a health benefit on the host" The word Probiotic comes from the latin word pro (for) and the greek word biotic (from bios = life). You could say that probiotic is "for life". The opposite would be antibiotics. Antibiotics "kills" life. More information about Probiotics in our Probiotics Guide. Below are a list of probiotics that will assist you and help maintain the friendly balance of Probiotics throughout your system. |
